SECOND AUCKLAND CUP ADALENE’S SURPRISE BIG TOTALISATOR TURNOVER [ Per Proas Association. ] AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. The Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting opened in hot, sunny weather to-day, the attendance of 38,000 being the best for 10 years at Ellerslie. The track was in perfect order. The totalisator handled £102,798, compared with £76,928 10s last year, and is the only occasion the figure has exceeded £lOO,OOO since 1929 when £121,000 was invested. W. Rennie, the jockey on Modern I Maid, was injured when the horse fell in the Grafton Hurdles. He was sent to hospital suffering from concussion.
