AUCTION SALKS. jQISPERSAL OF THE pAMOUS yyESTMERE J’HOROUGHBRED gTUD (WITHOUT RESERVE) \T WESTMERE, WANGANUI TUESDAY, JANUARY 1$). 1937 TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 1937 AT 1.30 P.M. QWING to ill health, the well-known and highly-successful breeder, Mr John Donald, Westmere. Wanganui, has instructed the undersigned to disperse, without reserve, his famous collection of highly-bred English, Australian, and New Zealand brood mares, together with his two imported young English stallions, the whole forming one of the most valuable collections of thoroughbreds yet. offered for sale at auction in the Southern Hemisphere and comprise:— •> STALLIONS—BEAU PERE, foaled ~ 1927, and PHALERON BAY, foaled 1931. QQ BROOD MARES—II imported from England, 22 with foals at foot. The Dispersal Sale of this renowned stud without reserve offers breeders in the Dominion the greatest opportunity that has yet occurred in this part of the world to buy proven mares of the best English, Australian, and New Zealand blood. The stud has been very heavily culled annually and importations have been maintained right, through its history, so that today there is no mare in the stud which is not of high prospective value. Mr Donald has met with phenomenal success and his judgment is very well known. Catalogues give full particulars of the breeding of the mares. The young mares are nearly all by the phenomenally successful sires, Limond and Chief Ruler, whose daughters are already meeting with wonderful success. The foals at foot are by Beau Pere (imp.), Captain Bunsby (imp.), Colonel Cygnus (imp.), and Irish Lancer (imp.), and the marcs have all been sewed by either Beau Pore or Phaleron Bay. The outstanding draft of 14 yearlings from Westmere by Beau Pere will be sold at. the National Sales on January 21. The foals by this sire are particularly outstanding and indicate that he is going to prove a remarkably successful sire. He is one of the best, bred horses in the world, being by Son-in-Lavv from Cinna, and is a half-brother to Gay Shield and closely related to Spearhead, etc. EY is the sire of a winner in England, his first foal. Phaleron Bay, imported last season, has developed into a magnificent type and is a lit. compatriot to Beau Pere, who is one of the most magnificent stallions ever imported. Phaleron Bay, by Phalaris from Brodick Bay, by Swynford, is a threequarter brother to Miracle and a very close relation to Fairway and Pharos, thus representing the leading blood in the world to-day.
