FINALS FOR TAKAPUNA PREPARING FOR TO-MORROW [ Per Press Association. ] AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. The course proper, with poles 45ft. out, was available for the final gallops it Ellerslie this morning in connection with the Takapuna meeting, which opens there on Saturday. The track was in first-class order and several smart efforts were recorded, the best being those of Kelly, Mazir, Royal Appellant, Prince Ven, and Big Dock. On the course proper Speedfast ran half a mile in 53 l-ssec.. and High Star the same distance in 52sec. Kjlonsoa ran five furlongs in Imin. 4 4-ssec., a useful effort, and she could have done better. Fleetwind finished in front of Huntingmore over half a mile, taking 51 3- Fleetwind worked well. Knight of Australia galloped a mile in Imin. 47 l-ssec., th? last seven furlongs taking Imin. 32 4-ssec. Kelly, accompanied by Tybalt, ran the fastest seven furlongs of the morning in Imin. 31sec. Kelly s effort was impressive. Horowhenua did half a mile in o2 4- running on solidly. Mazir was in front of Mungatoon at the end of seven furlongs, taking Imin 31 3-ssec. Mazir covered a bit of extra ground, and did the work in good style. Valspear and Student Prince ran five furlongs in Imin. 4 2-ssec. Royal Appellant was holding Gay Broney (McTavish) at the end of six furlongs, taking Imin. 18 3-ssec. This time was not bettered during the morning. Master Briefly and Round Up_ galloped six furlongs in Imin. 21 4-osec. Prince Ven hit out freely over five furlongs. The time was Imin. 3 3-5 sec., a good effort, but he was making a distinct noise at the finish. Big Dook and Hunter’s Morn did a similar distance in Imin. 3 4-ssec. After breakfast Lorita, Solo Song, and Lady Gainscourt ran half a mile in 53 l-ssec. Shining Spear. Gigantic and All Irish finished in that order at the end of a mile, taking Imin. 46 4-5 sec., a useful work-out. Other horses to do useful tasks were Backblock, the Hoariri filly, Chief Emerald, Armacourt, Lucidus, and Scotland.
