GENERAL NEWS A monster Paddy's Market in aid of the Rest Room campaign funds will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow (Saturday), commencing at 1 p.m. The official opening will take place at 2.30 p.m. Stalls, games and competit’o::~ will be held, and it is to be hoped that the function will be accorded the support it so richly deserves. Particulars are advertised. Mr. Jack Bronasch, who has been I the guest of Mr. Jack Bradley recently, had the misfortune to lose his car as the result of an outbreak of tire, while motoring from Taihape to Waimiha. The car suddenly caught alight near Ohakune and was destroyed, Mr. Bonasch being forced lo make a hurried escape from the blazing vehicle. He is postmaster at Waimiha. Mr. E. Beuck, of the Taihape railway staff, left recently under transfer to Frankton Junction. Prior to his I departure he was presented with a I shaving set by the fellow members of I the staff, the presentation being made by the stationmaster (Mr. J. D. C. ! Davis). I Mr. Beuck also received a fountain I pen from the Taihape Fire Brigade, of j which he was a prominent member. The presentation in this case was made by Superintendent J. Mortland. A motion picture film showing Wotan winning the Melbourne Cup will be screened at the Regent Theatre to-night, to-morrow night and Monday. A report of the drama festival held in the Town Hall on Wednesday evenling, will be published to-morrow. ( AMP SITE I The following rules governing the camp site have been drawn up by the Taihape Borough Council. The council will permit the parking of motor vehicles on the Motor Camping Park set aside for that purpose on the following conditions:— | (1) That the council accepts no reIsponsibility for the safety of t he motor • vehicles or the personal belongings of the campers, nor for any accidents | that may occurr on the grounds. [ (2) That open camp fires are prohibited. All fires shall be in the lire boxes provided. (3) That the trees on the park shall not be cut or mutilated for any purpose whatever. j (4) That campers shall clear up all itins, papers, and refuse before departing. and leave the camp in a clean and sanitary condition; and all rubbish shall be put into the receptacles provided. (5) Campers shall turn off all water 1 taps immediately after using, and par- | ticularly so when leaving the camp. | (6) That no motor vehicle shall be [allowed to park in the camp unless such vehicle be specially constructed i for camping purposes, or the owners I thereof have proper camping facilities. (7) That bicycles shall not be ridden in the park, except on main roadway. Motor-cycles, unless belonging to tourists coming to and/or going from the camp, are prohibited in the park. (8) Any dog, the property of a camper, must be securely fastened. No other dog or animal shall be allowed in the park. Any dog found worrying sheep on the park is liable to immediate destruction. > (9) No person shall camp in the park for a longer period than four (4) consecutive weeks in any one year, without the special permission of the council. No extension of lime will be granted to any person making use of the camp as a business centre for transacting business in the Taihape district. (10) All campers may have the use in common of the several conveniences, ablution sheds, water, etc., provided for their mutual benefit. (11) The council will be glad to receive any suggestion for the improvement of the camping facilities, and such, and any complaints, should be lodged with the secretary of the local motor association, with the camp custodion, or at the borough office. (12) The charges for the accommodation provided are:—Camping fees: 2s 6d per night, or 10s per week, for one allotment. All of such fees shall be paid on demand to the camp custodian, or any other person authorised by the council in that behalf. (13) Persons, other than campers, visitors of campers, and tradespeople soliciting or delivering orders are prohibited from trespassing in the camping park. (14) Any person behaving in an objectionable manner, or refusing to obey any of these rules, may be ordered to leave the park. GENERAL NEUS The Taihape retailers have decided to hold a shopping week from December 16 to 22. A special feature will be a window display and spotting competition for which prizes will be awarded. There will also be a free picture matinee at both the local theatres for the children of the district under 14 years.
