W.D.F.U.

WESTMERE BRANCH. The Westmere branch of the W.D.F.U. held their monthly meeting on November 21, there being an attendance of twelve. The meeting was opened by the president and members reading the creed. Apologies were received from Mesdames Billinghurst, M. Laird, H. Taylor and Kean. The minutes were read and confirmed and correspondence received. An invitation to the Westmere Women’s Institute birthday party was read. Mrs. C. Laird proposed and Mrs. Clements seconded that Mrs. Birch be. appointed a delegate to go to Nelson to the executive meeting in January. It was decided not to have another meeting till the last Tuesday in January and then the programme will be arranged by Mesdames Cave and Clements. Mrs. Darcy Preston sang several delightful songs which were much enjoyed by all. Her accompaniments were played by Mrs. Greenwood. Some amusing extracts from a cooking book 106 years old were read by Mrs. Birch. The meeting closed with afternoon tea and the singing of the National Anthem.
