LODGINGS OR BOARD DEDUCTIONS PERMITTED [ Per F’-'w;® Association I WELLINGTON, Nov .24. The Arbitration Court to-day announced that it had decided that deductions can be made by an employer from the male or female basic whge under the New Zealand licensed hotels employees’ agreement if the employer supplies the worker with lodgings or board or both. The amount the employer is permitted to deduct from wages in consideration of supplying these services is the amount prescribed in the agreement as being their value. The same principles are applicable to the Wellington —a rooms and restaurant employees award, which makes provision for the supply of meals and, in some cases, lodgings to the workers. The announcement was made In a reserved decision on an application for an interpretation of the agreement and award heard by the Court last week.
