METHODIST CHI R( H BIRTHDAY HONOURS Mrs. R. A. Adams was the guest of honour at a delightful evening in the Methodist Church on Monday evening, to celebrate her 841 h birthday, it taking the form of a mission evening, Mrs. Adams being a keen supporter of the missions. Rev. Patchett opened the evening with a hymn and prayer, and then a musical programme was rendered by Misses M. Knowles and Jacqueline Adams (guitar solo), Cathelene and Eileen Hanmlyn (organ duet), Misses Tanner (vocal duet), Miss Thompson (recitation). Miss O. Adams (songs). Miss M. Knowles (guitar and whistling solo). Masters Carey (vocal duet), Mrs. Guy Corbett (songs), Messrs. Keith and Gordon Weiuenbohm (guitar and mouth organ duet). Two beautiful bouquets from the church and guild were presented to the guest of honour by Mesdames P. Herbert and R. E. Moore. Mr. A. E. Wainright, on behalf of the church and those present, conveyed best wishes to Mrs. Adams, remarking on the example she presented as a church woman. I Rev. Patchett endorsed those reImarks and thanked those who gave {items and helped to make the evening such a success. Mr. H. Boagey replied in behalf of 'Mrs. Adams. A handsome birthday cake, made by .Mrs. D. Pankhurst, complete with (candles which were lit and blown out iby Mrs. G. Corbett and Miss O Xdams, grand-daughters was duly cut ay the guest, amid applause. "Auld Lang Syne” concluded the 'sappy evening. .Mrs. Adams received many congratulatory messages, and from Mrs. Anthony, of Kakaramea, a beautiful :bouuuet of mauve-tinted flowers.
