CLERICAL WORKERS’ CLAIM [Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. I The clerical workers of Wellington appeared at lhe Arbitration Court today seeking an award in a long list of . cases covering all classes of work;4 with the exception of that done in the n'a. i facturing industries. The Welli.igtpri Clerical Workers’ Industrial I Union of Workers are the applicants and the dispute is the first ever brought by clerical workers in New Zealand. Mr. Croskery appears for the union and Mr. Mountjoy for the employers. Several applications for exemption were heard and decision was hold over. Mi Croskery put. in an amended wage scale based on age at commencing employment, and length of service, an 1 providing for a minimum of £5 Ids a week for male clerks over 25 \cars of age. Hours, it was held by | lhe union, should be between 8 a.m. |and 5 p.m., with at least an hour for I lunch, from Monday to Friday, and [that the weekly hours should not exiceod 38.
