WATER POLO CONTESTS CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. DRAW FOR FIRST RO UN ). Deciding at an executive committee meeting on Monday night to puy the first round of the water polo championships before Christmas, the Wanganu- Swimm.ng Cfntre has draw n up the roster of games and has appointed re r erees. Teams have been entered lor the A anc B championships by the four iocal clubs—Wanganui Central, Wanganui East, Gonville and Aramoho. The A and B teams will play on the same nights, this arrangement giving two gan.es of polo on each occasion. The following is the draw for the matches in both A and B championships, together with the location and the referee appointed:— First Round. Aramoho v. Wanganui Central, at Aramoho, on Tuesday, December 8; Mr. Heald. Gonville v. Wanganui East, at Gonville, on Thursday, December 10; Mr. G. Thrush. Second Round. Gonville v. The programme for the Christmas carnival at the Gonville bath on Monday, December 28, was also left to the I programme committee, and officials for the committee were appointed, j With regard to the Christmas Carniival committee's request tor co-opera-tion in staging a river race on New Year's Day, delegates decided that the committee be informed that the Centre could not see its way clear to run such an event on that day. Regarding the notice that permission was being sought to form a Bay of Plenty Centre, it was decided that the Centre's delegate be instructed to support the move, and he is also to be informed that it is the Centre's desire to support the Auckland motion to abolish the registration fee. The Otago Centre's motion that the headquarters of the New Zealand Council be moved from Christchurch was not supported. The president reported having interviewed Dr. Kendrick Chr.stie regarding the allocation of a trophy, th: donor indicating that he was in accord with the suggestion that it be awarded for the B grade polo championship.
