“Soul and Body” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Socientist, on Sunday, November 22. The golden text was Matthew 6:22. “The light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible. “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee; my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. Cause me to hear thy loving-kindness in the morning; for in Thee do 1 trust; cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto Thee.” (Psm. 63:1, 143:8). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy. "Do you say the time has not yet come in which to recognise soul as substantial and able to control the body? Remember Jesus, who nearly 19 centures ago demonstrated the power of the spirit and said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do alsof” and who also said. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when' the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear,— this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true.” (pp. 92, 428).
