Labour Party Women for World Sisterhood
ADELAIDE.—Pledging themselves lo work untiringly for the maintenance of peace, the annual conference ot the women's section of the Labour Party, comprising 7U delegates from all parts of the .state, devoted much time to a discussion on a proposal tu urge the formation of a world sisterhood. It was resolved to do everything possible to develop the will for peace and establish an international attitude among women. The conference carried a motion de- , daring itself •’to be totally opposed to Australia participating in any war excepting actual invasion, lo the raising of any forces for services outside the • Common wealth and lo participating, or ; promising any participation, in an overl seas war. Another resolution was: "We further strongly express our opinion that the j sole production, and control of armaj meats, explosives and war material ot j all kinds shall be vested entirely in the • Commonwealth Government which shall i not supply armaments.” These representative Labour women - declared tiiat they would work for the maintenance of peace by making ail the efforts they could io stop the manufacture and transport of munitions, and other materials, and to sec that war ex- ; peuditure was transferred "to the de- - fence of the daily needs of the impoverished. ' ’
