AVALANCHE OF BLOWS

LIGHTWEIGHT BOXING McLARNIN BEATS AMBERS Received Nov. 22. 7.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 21. ■ McLarnin (10.4) earned a chance to I face the champion Barney Ross by the ease with which he outboxed the lightweight champion Ambers (9.10). A crowd of 10,000 saw McLarnin outpunch his rival in the ratio of two to one after a somewhat shaky start, |in which Ambers appeared to be in his best form and yet lightning left hooks forced him to seek clinches. McLarnin turned the tide in the sixth round with a staggering right, dazing Ambers momentarily and opening the way for an avalanche of blows. For the greater part of the fight McLarnin was able to connect with a powerful steady right to his rival’s jaw at will, shaking Ambers to the heels but never flooring him.
