HUME RESERVOIR
AUSTRALIAN IRRIGATION SCHEME Received Nov. 22. 11.20 p.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 22. The Governor-General, Lord Cowrie, yesterday formally opened the Hume reservoir, which is part of a huge scheme for conserving the waters of the Murrays River for irrigation, the cost of which is over £5,500,000. It is the largest dam in the Southern Hemisphere and submerges 30,000 acres of river flats.
