“SECOND RATE”
AMERICAN TANKS AND CARS WAR DEPARTMENT DENIAL ' Received Nov. 22, 8.20 p.m. WASHINGTON, Nov. 21. A sensation has been caused by an article in the German military weekly, “Militar Wochenblatt,” fhat the tanks and armoured cars of the United States were second rate judged from European standards. This is refuted i by the War Department, which states : that the paper is completely in error. ; The general staff have completed exhaustive tests and are satisfied that the mechanised equipment compares ! favourably with that of any nation. >lt is pointed out that the author, Heinz Bach, erred because lie discussed obsolete equipment.
