OBITUARY

BRIG-GEN. ROBERT WHITE LONDON, Nov. 20. The death has occurred of Brig-adier-General Robert White, who participated in the Jameson Raid. Brigadier-General the Hon. Robert White was born in 1861 and was the fourth son of the second Baron Annaly. He was educated at Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, and joined the 23rd Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1882, serving in the Nile campaign and being A.D.C. and military secretary in Cork and in York from 1886 to 1891. He then went through the Staff College and became a staff officer with the Rhodesia Horse. He was a Magistrate in Bechuanaland in 1894 and served in the South African War on the staff of the 6th Division. In 1914 he raised and commanded the 10th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, and served in France from 1915 to 1918, being mentioned in dispatches six times. He was twice wounded, and was awarded the C.M.G. and D.S.O. In 1916-18 he was brigadier commanding the 184th Infantry Brigade in France. He was unmarried.
