LORD HARTINGTON
ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON CIVIC RECEPTION [Pfcr Press Association, WELLINGTON, Nov, 6. A civic reception was accorded to Lord and Lady Hartington, who arrived by the Awatea this morning, and they were afterwards entertained by the Government at luncheon. Lord Hartington is Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for Dominion Affairs. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) said that he felt confident that Lord Hartington would be able to help with the problems of the Dominion’s Government as a results of his visit. Speaking at the Town Hall on behalf of the Government, the Hon. P. Fraser expressed the hope that their visit would be a pleasant one. The Government not only welcomed him, but asked him to convey good wishes to his chief, Mr. Malcolm MacDonald. Lord Hartington conveyed a message from Mr. Malcolm MacDonald of warmest greetings to the City of Wellington. After reference to the state of Europe, he said that it was good to think that the British Commonwealth of Nations was standing like a rock as the champion of right and peace. He thanked the Mayor and citizens for the welcome to himself and Lady Hartington.
