GYMNASTIC CARNIVAL VINCENT RYAN PROVING GREAT DRAW CARD Heavy bookings ensure two capacity houses for the Y.M.C.A. gymnastic carnival to be staged to-night and tomorrow night in the Opera House. A full-dress rehearsal lock place on Saturday afternoon, and the outstanding ability of the performers, numbering 280, reflects great credit on the instructor, Mr Lance Cross, who has been untiring in his efforts to make the display the best ever turned on by the Y.M.C.A. Th: fact that Mr Vincent Ryan, the great Australian comedian, is heading the programme, t<as been a source of inspiration to everybody. Mr Ryan is just as enthusiastic, and in reply to a wire sent him on Saturday advising him that fully booked-out houses were assured, he replied, “Looking forward to having a great time at your display; will give of my best.” Vincent Ryan has a bagful of brand new songs, jokes, stories, and dances that will set everybody laughing. He is a comedian out of the ordinary; everything he does is different. He takes his stage work very seriously. The Y.M.C.A. is to be congratulated on importing an artist of such remarkable ability, and the heavy bookings for both nights show that the effort is appreciated by the public of Wanganui. Prices for the entertainment are very low. Orchestral stalls and dress circle 2s; other parts Is 6d. The D.I.C. has charge of the box plan, and patrons are advised to make sure of their seat by booking to-day.
