UNITY OF WORKERS

FEILDING UNION'S DECISION FREEZING WORKERS’ OPINIONS ( Per P’-es’i Assoc'atlon. I PALMERSTON N., Oct. 13. Tired of disunity, the Feilding Freezing Workers’ Union has decided that its members should become members of the Wellington District Union. Hitherto the Feilding Union has been affiliated with the North Island Freezing Workers’ Federation. It was pointed out by Mr Murphy, president of the North Island Federation, that at the present time there are two distinct controlling organisations, and the Minister ot Labour, as well as sections of both organisations, was anxious that there should be one to cover the whole of the North Island. They believed that for the sake of unity in the industry it would be in the interests of the members of the Feilding Union and all other unions in the Wellington district to become members of the Wellington District Union. After a lengthy discussion a resolution similar to that carried at recent meetings of the Whakatu Union and the executive of the Longburn Union was carried. “That this meeting views with the gravest concern the disunity that exists in the ranks of the workers to-day and considers that as disunity is detrimental to the general betterment, the interests of the members of Ihis and all unions would best be served by becoming members of the Wellington District Union.”
