In a professional boxing contest which went the full twelve rounds, Bill Pluto, brother of Cyril Pluto (10.5£) of Australia, defeated Neville Mudgway, of Auckland, on points. The Australian specialised in open fighting, while Mudgway scored in infighting. The contest was fairly even, but for the final three rounds, when Pluto assumed the aggressive and secured the decision by a fair margin.
