SALES TO AMERICA QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT [Per Press Association! WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. In the House of Representatives this afternoon, Hon. J. G. Coates asked the Minister of Marketing if an order for butter from the United States had been refused and if it were the policy of the Government to refuse to sanction a sale and if the Government desired to restrict the overseas market for New Zealand butter. Hon. Lee Martin, in reply, said the answer was in the negative. The Marketing Department had made sales of butter and cheese to the United States and other markets outside the United Kingdom. No firm offers for the sale of butter to the United States had been received by the Marketing Department and the department had given many firm offers to merchants and agents for butter and cheese for sale to the United States and some business had resulted. The Marketing Department was prepared to make sales at prices considered to be reasonable but there were certain shipping difficulties m connection with sales of butter to North America.
