Rotary International. In interesting talk on Rotary International was delivered at yesterday’s weekly luncheon of the Wanganui Rotary Club by Rotarian Will Thomas, of Timaru, Governor of 53rd. District of Rotary International (New Zealand and Samoa). .The speaker traced the history of the movement from its humble beginning in Chicago, 31 years ago, to its pres- I ent strength of 400 clubs and 170,000 members. Training of Pilots. Consideration of ways and means of coping with the present large number of pupils offering at the present time, was given at yesterday's annua! meeting of the Western Federated ; (N. 1. Flying Club, at Hawera. The matter was deferred to the next meeting and if it is still urgent, then a sub-committee is to be set up to consider the matter. The secretary (Mr. S. E. Nielson) said that many of the aero clubs in the Dominion had waiting lists of trainees, and had their machines and instructors going “flat out.” In the federation, things were more difficult because the instructor had to divide his attention between three clubs. The president (Mr. A. S. Burgess) said that the extraordinary number of pupils was due to a knowledge of the possibility of the Government building up a strong air force. Flight-Lieutenant lan Keith (pilot-instructor) said that a numbei of young men had joined up with the idea of learning to fly and become members of the Royal Air Force.
