Sundstrum stated a number of motorists had complained that on the Dunback Hoad recently the traffic inspector was dressed in riding breeches with slouch hat and holding a whip. Was such a disguise in order? Mr. F. J. Williams, president of the .South Island Motor Union said it wa very much out of order. According to the Minister the duty of inspectors was to assist and not persecute motorists. Another member said he had heard many stories against inspectors that were without truth. Mr. Williams stated that he intended to press for a transfer of all inspectors at intervals. They should gain experience everywhere so that they, as well as motorists, would be educated.
