OVER-SUPPLY IN CATTLE SECTION. [Per Press Association} CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 14. Entries at Addington to-day were of normal size except in the fat cattle section, in which there was an oversupply and a weakening of va ues. Store Sheep.—A line pf 600 ewe hoggets averaged 33s 6d and an outstanding pen of shorn m.s. lambs 365. Best wether hoggets sold at 24s to 265, ewes and lambs were a shade firmer. Spring Lambs.—A brisk sale with best sorts making from 27s to 30s. Fat Sheep.—A smaller entry and last week’s rates well maintained. Best wethers 36s to 445, prime medium weights 33s to 355, others down to 28s. Best ewes 33s to 395; good 29s to 325, others down to 225. Fat Cattle. —A heavy entry of 460 head and an easing in values by 15s a head. Best steers £l4 to £l6 17s 6d, good £l2 to £l3 15s, others down to £9. Best heifers £9 Ils to £lO, good £7 10s to £8 15s, others down to £6. Good cows £8 to £lO 10s, medium £6 to £7 10s, others down to £5 15s. Fat Pigs.—A good sale for porkers and slightly easier for baconers. Porkers 33s 6d to 49s 6d, average per lb. 6d to 63d. Baconers 52s 6d to £4 9s 6d, average per lb., 53d to 61d. Eight weeks have passed since best ox beef was quoted at less than 36s per 1001 b. at Westfield, where values to-day were firm. The yarding was considerably heavier with a proportionate improvement in quality, many choice beasts being available. Choice and prime ox beet sold at 31s to 355, secondary and plain 265, to 31s, prime cow and heifer 30s to 355, ordinary cow beef 21s to 325; extra heavy prime steers £l4 to £l6 2s 6d, heavy £l2 10s to £l4 17s 6d, lighter £ll IDs to £l3 15s, light £9 12s 6d to £lll7s 6d, small and unfinished £7 15s to £10; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £lO to £l2, heavy £8 to £9 17s 6d, lighter £5 to £7 10s, other killable £2 lus to £4 15s. A better class of sheep, particularly heavy wethers, was for. sale, values improving toward the close of the auction to be firm on last week's rates. Shorn sorts were as numerous as woolly sheep, including hoggets, for which there was a steady uemand, late values also being maintained. Extra heavy prime woolly wethers 36s 6d to 40s 9d, shorn 31s 3d to 355, heavy woolly 35s to 38s 9d, shorn 28s 6d to 32s 6d, medium woolly 34s 6d to 36s 6d, shorn 26s 6<l to 29s 9d, light woolly 25s to 345, shorn 22s to 25s 9d. Unfinished shorn 22s to 23s 6d; extra heavy prime woolly ewes 32s to 365; shorn 25s 6d to 28s 6d, medium woolly 30s to 33s 6d, shorn 23s 6d to 275, light woolly 27s to 29s 9d, shorn 21s to 23s 6d, other killable woolly ewes 22s to 23s 3d, unfinished shorn 2s to 15s 6d; extra heavy woolly hoggets 33s to 37 s 6d, heavy woolly 30s to 31s 6d, shorn 23s to 28s, medium woolly 24s 6d to 28s 6d, shorn 21s 6d to 22s 6d, fight woolly 23s to 25s 6d, small and plain woolly 20s to 235. An average number of spring lambs sold firmly at 13s 9d to 33s 6d. Mostly small calves were again on offer in an average yarding of fair quality, but an exceptional demand produced a further increase and made an Improvement of about 4s a head in two weeks. Runners £3 to £7 4s, heavy vealers £5 to £5 18s, medium £4 to £4 18s, light £3 5s to £3 18s, smaller £2 8s to £3 6s, unfinished and bucketfed £.l 5s to £2 6s, bobby and rough 5s to 345.
