Dance at Nukumaru. At a dance to be held to-night (Tuesday). October 13, in the Nukumaru Hall, the music will be played by Hooker’s Merrymakers, featuring Stuart Gordon in special numbers. Novelty dances, together with a good floor, should attract- numerous patrons. Bus leaves Hodson’s garage at 7.30 p.m. L.L.O.L. Shop Day. All kinds of useful articles will be found on the sewing stall at the “shop” day to be held to-morrow (Wednesday, October 14), by the L.L.O.L. Lodge in the vacant shop in Guyton Street, until recently occupied by Miss Bathgate. There will 1 also be well-stocked cake, produce, ( and jumble stalls. The shop will be j open for business from 9.30 a.m. j Trinity Ladies’ Guild. The monthly meeting of the Trinity Ladies’ Guild, held last Thursday, J took the form of a social afternoon, when members were happily enter- ‘ tained with songs given by Mrs Bradshaw, and elocutionary items by Mrs P. Lee. The hostesses were Mesdames E. A. Barton and E. Ziesler, who served a dainty afternoon tea. Caius Tennis Club. A very successful dance was helct by the above club on Tuesday evening to celebrate the opening of the summer season. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr C. Foote, and the winers of the Monte Carlo waltz were Miss M. Barron and Mr Foote. Amongst those present were: Mesdames Tarr. Foote, Murray, Crothers, Cassely, Webb. Knowles. R. Webb. Collinson, A. Hird. J. Davis. C. Lowe, Hodges, A. Smith. D. Sheriff, B. Gibb, D. Chisholm, Walter and Byres. Daisy Sullivan Sun Porch. The Daisy Sullivan sun porch, the only vita-glass sun porch at a Karitane Hospital in New Zealand, was officially opened at the Lady King Karitane Hospital, Cashmere, Christchurch, last week, and stands as a tribute paid by the women of Chirstchurch to Mrs D. G. Sullivan, in recognition of her work for the poor families of the city, especially the mothers and babies, during the period that her husband, the Hon. D. G. SuliUifin, was Mayor of Christchurch. Although recovering from a severe illness, Mrs Sullivan made the journey to Christchurch specially to perform the official opening of the porch.
