TENNIS OPENS Fine weather favoured Bulls Tennis Club members for opening day on Wednesday, and there was a large attendance of members and visitors. An apology was received from the president, Mr. A W. Amon, who is absent in Rotorua, and Mr. N. H. Amos, in a neat speech, expressed the hope that the season would be a successful and enjoyable one. The courts and surroundings he said, were a credit to the club, and with new members joining, the standard of play should be maintained. Mrs. F. Ralfe nit the first ball over the net, amid cheers, ano the season was declared anen. A yankee tournament followed, the winners being Mrs. Ralfe and vliss Quinn, and a dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies of he club. Great preparations lave been made to ensure the success of the function, and it is expected that a large number of adult lancers will attend. On Tuesday next Ford Entertain-

ers will put on a vaudeville entertainment in the Town Hall, the total proceeds being donated to the funds of the Parewanui School. The programme will include music?.! items, song hits, ventriloquism, thought reading, tap dancing and community singing, Mr. Jess Selwyn. of Palmerston North, being song leader. The band of entertainers have appeared in other parts of the district, and have drawn crowded houses everywhere.
