PALMERSTON COUNCIL

MR. TENNENT’S DECISION I Per Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 6. A statement has been made by Councillor W. B. Tennent that it is not his intention to proceed further with any contemplated proceedings which he announced at a recent meeting of the City Council he was issuing against Councillor J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Ci. Tennent contained in a telegram which Cr. Hodgens had forwarded to the council three weeks ago. Councillor Tennent to-day said that although he considered the proper place for Mr Hodgens to make a withdrawal of the statement was at the council table, he understood from people who attended the public meeting in the Opera House on September 19 that Cr. Clodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Cr. Tennent now regarded the matter as closed.
