Captain I. B. D. Dewar, of India, is a visitor to the city and is a guest at the Rutland Hotel. The Hon. Michael Connolly, M.L.C., is visiting Wanganui for several days on his way to Wellington from a visit to New Plymouth. Mr T. P. Pauling, of the Australian Rugby team at present visiting Wanganui, is a nephew of Mrs E. J. Hughes, of “Braeburn.” Mr. J. Ward, who has been appointed to represent the Primary Schools’ Rugby Union on the Wanganui Metropolitan Rugby Union, was welcomed by the chairman, Mr. A. C. Danielson, I at last night’s meeting of the Manage- • ment Committee. Messrs G. H. Trott and D. E. Dustin I will represent the Wanganui and Manawatu tearoom proprietors respectively at a meeting to be held in Wellington this week to discuss matters affecting the interests of (he employers and employees. ; Miss A. M. Blackett, city librarian, i was welcomed back to her post last night by the Mayor, Mr. W. J. Rogers, presiding over the first City Council meeting held since her return. Miss ■Blackett has recently been in England where she attended the Library Association Conference at Margate. 1 Miss J. Donaldson, of the Wanganui City Library staff, is to be attached to the Wellington Library for four to five weeks to gain experience. This temporary appointment has become possible through the courtesy of the chief librarian, Wellington (Mr. J. Norrie). Miss M. McKenna has been appointed to the Wanganui library. It was announced yesterday, reports a Press Association message, that Mr Ernest M. Bardsley had been appointed secretary to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Mr Bardsley for several years has been practising as a public accountant and organising secretary at Hawera. He is a son of Mr W. J. Bardsley, who was secretary of the Timaru and Otago Harbour Boards.
