BRIEF STOPPAGE
WORK AT WESTFIELD I DISMISSED EMPUOYEE REINSTATED [ Per Tress Association J AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. A stoppage of work in practically ' every department of the Westfield < freezing works occurred to-day when i exception was taken to the dismissal i of a slaughterman who is one of the i leading officials of the union. About 600 workers were involved in the dis- i pute, which was settled when the : management reinstated the official. The foreman of the department dismissed the slaughterman, who is • alleged to have been late in returning < to work. The action was resented on ■ the ground that it was unwarranted ; and the men downed tools and walked - from the floor. Similar steps were | taken by the workers in other depart- i ments. After a conference the dismissed ; man was unconditionally reinstated ■ and work was resumed within an hour ; of the trouble developing. i
