STORY OF ESCAPE

Sir, I am a visitor to your city, and must express my surprise that, in your issue o£ the 14th. inst., such a prominent place was given to a cabled article headed “Remarkable Escape.’’ The statements arc so absurd that its publication becomes almost an insult to inteliigent persons. It is a pity that time and money is wasted in transmitting such piffle to our country, but it is more regretable that a reputable newspaper should give space and headlines to what is obviously propaganda in the interests of a religion which survives on ignorance and superstition..—l am, etc., E. LAWRENCE. The fact that the message was transmitted by the representative of the London Daily Telegraph lifts it out of the realm of propaganda. As to its value everyone may assess it for himself, but it is as well not to be too censorious. "There are more things in Heaven and earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy Horatio.’’—Editor.
