£240,000 EMERALDS
REPORTED PURCHASE BY U.S. MILLIONAIRESS Countess Haugwitz-Reventlow, formerly Miss Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress, is reported in Paris to have recently bought worldfamous emeralds to the value of £240,000. They were sold, it is stated, by Mme. Ganna Walska, the Polish prima donna, and former wife of Mr. Harold F. McCormick, the Chicago millionaire. They were originally given to the Countee de Castiglione by Napoleon 111. When Mme. Ganna Walska was asked abaut the reported sale she said, “I don’t wish to discuss the matter.”
