C.S.M. “Ron ’ Davidson led the band in its march up the Avenue on Friday evening last. “Sentry’’ has vivid recollections of this same C.S.M. when in camp at Waipukurau two years ago, searching everywhere for a piper to play at the head of B Company while out on the march. One was eventually’ located and xvas du’y installed in the front four of the company, where from then on, everyone marched to the strains of A Hundred Pipers” etc., and the C.S.M. was content. Apparently, not appreciating good Scotch airs fresh

from the pipes, about six inches away from his ear, the Platoon Sergt. after a quarter of an hour or so in the front four, would always be noticed retiring as gracefully as possible to the rear of the company, leaving •‘Ron” to march on in happy bliss.
