The wedding is arranged and the engagement announced el (Mollie) May Norma Richards, grand-daughter of Mrs. A. Richards, Wanganui, to Noel, only son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. G. Neilson, Mt. Zion, Okoia. The engagement is announced of Hazel Dorothy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Macfarlane, Karori, t» Basil Alexander, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Bailey, Kawhatau, Mangaweka. given by Sister May Gardiner (Hawke’s Bay), who spoke of the Maori institutes. These, she said, were progressing rapidly, a most encouraging feature of the movement being the fact that the members were becoming “Dominion-minded.” Trophies Awarded The following trophies were presented by the Mayor:— Robert Young trophy tor the federation doing the most outstanding piece of work for the progress cf the movement: South Canterbury, for its hospitality scheme. Best collection of pioneer tales: Takapau (Hawke’s Bay). Programme competition: Whakatane and Greenmeadows (equal).
