EAT MORE WHEAT
SUGGESTED INTERNATIONAL ACTION PURCHASE OF SURPLUSES. [British Official Wireless] Received July 23, 8.40 p.m. RUGBY, July 23. At a meeting of the International Wheat Committee, London, the Chilean Ambassador suggested an inquiry into the possibility of encouraging, through international action, the consumption or wheat instead of cereals with inferior nutritive value. He suggested that an international organisation might obtain, at low price, part of the surpluses likely to accumulate in several countries in the next few years, and referred to the possibility of financing such a wheat reserve through an international institution, such as the Bank of International Settlements. Representatives of Britain, France and Argentina welcomed these suggestions.
