WANGANUI RUGBY

TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW HARD MATCH FOR KAIERAU TECHNICAL GLD BOYS FIT To-morrow will be an important clay in the progress oi the wangamil ciianipioiisjiip liugoy contest, in that Kaierau, iOi tne sevOnu time this season, will be laciiig a tremendously hard match to nia.n tain a winimig way. On this uCca sion the challenging lorce will be Tecnnical Old Boys, a team wmui began the season wondering now its iorces would muster up and aiterwards found that oy strict attention to training it couid over come the greatest of obstacles. Ender the coaching of «. Ambrose, who was one c-f the best centre threequarters Wanganui has had in recent years, the side surprised the critics by a defeat of Kaierau in the first round. It followed that up with a trouncing of Waverley, the team ranking second on the ladder, and to-moriow the Illness and pace of the rising team will offer serious force to the substantial record of the maroons. Technical Old Boys have proved that half the Rugby buttle is fitness and consistent training. For tnat very reason it will be interesting to see how to-morrow’s match goes. Kaierau itself is a side which has never ceased to train assiduously. If Technical Uld Boys, by emulation of that tendency, can beat Kaierau at its own game, well then won’t the Rugby public be jubilant. A FORWARD’S FOOTWORK Sir, —I notice that your sports reporter has deemed it advisable to warn Hutchinson, of Technical Old Boys, re the use of his boots. I can safely say that no opponent has been hurt by the player’s boots this year, and 1 don’t remember any of our referees having to speak to him or penalise him for off-side play this seaon. Hutchinson is recognised as one of our best forwards and he earns this recognition mainly by the use of his feet, so why should he be warned? Restrict him in his excellent foot-work and you ruin another promising player. I consider that the warning was uncalled for. I am, etc., “FAIR PLAY.”
