NEW BUILDINGS SINCE WAR THREE MILLION MARK PASSED I British Official Wireless. J RUGBY, June 17. The .Minister of Health, Sir Kingsley Wood, speaking at Winchester today on national housing, made the announcement that the 3,000,000 math in the number of new houses erected since the end of the war had now been passed. For the half-year ended March 21, 174,699 houses had been built, an output exceeding by 5000 tiny previous six months on record. Sir Kingsley Wood drew attention to a gratifying feature of recent building activity, namely, the increasing proportion of houses built foi people of moderate means. Houses built for letting were being erected at the rate of IXI,OOO yearly, and houses built with, a rateable value not exceeding £l3 were being erected at the rale of 160,000 yearly—undoubtedly the largest output of this cuts, of house in the country’s history.
