BONNY GLEN-SOUTH MAKIRIKIRI BRANCH The large attendance of members of the above branch of tho W.D.F.U. was presided over, in the absence of the president (Mrs. E. Gudopp), by Miss Simpson, vice-president, at the home of Mrs. W. Gow, Henderson’s Line, The meeting opened with all reading the Creed. The two competitions for the day met with a very good response and the judges of the knitting (Mesdames Briant and Gibson) had a difficult task. Airs. B. Wilhelm gained first prize with a baby’s matinee jacket and Airs. G. Franke was second with a lady’s cardigan. Aliss ISimpson won the peggy square competition with eighteen squares, altogether 97 squares being given. It was decided to send these to Aunt Alolly, of 2YA, who has them made into bed quilts, etc., for those in need. Arrangements were then made for the next meeting, which is to be on Wednesday, August 12, at Airs. Gibson’s, Bonny Glen. The competition for this meeting is to be something new made frome something old, extras to cost not more than one shilling. A dainty afternoon tea was then served by tihe joint hostesses, Alesdames Gow, G. Franke, D. AlcDougail, R. Nitschke and Aliss Robinson, bringing a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
