DUNEDIN MEETING

FROST AT WINGATUI. ( Per Press Association. » DUNHDIN, June 17. It was an off morning at Wiugatui, and very little fast galloping was done. This was partially on account of a veryhard frost. All work was confined to the plough. Costume and Night Wings ran sixfurlongs in Imin. 23 2-ssec., the last three in 42 3-ssec. The latter was going much the better at the finish. Most of the locally-trained horses were let off with half to three-quarter pace work. Umtali, who will be started on the second day, was given a strong working gallop over a circuit and was anxious to improve the pace. The .Smuggler, who is also a likely starter in the Otago Hurdles, worked well. Travenna showed no signs of lameness after his good gallop on Tuesday, and was let off with cantering exercise. Daring Deed looks better than she has done at any stage during the present season, but with her stablemate Half Note was given only three-quarter pace work. *
