Fory-Mile Bush.
The once-famed I’orty-Mile Bush Road between Masterton and Pahiatua will soon be bituminised for its entire length. At the present time a stretch of five miles from the level crossing just outside Eketahuna to the Hamua Dairy Co’s, factory is unsealed, but workmen are engaged in building it up for sealing. Large stumps of trees, relics of the days when this highway I was bush-clad and one of the Dominion’s scenic drives, are now being hauled out of the roadway by a steam roller.
