AUSTRALIA AND CANADA
SUBSTANTIAL TRADE GAINS Trade between Australia and Canada, in both directions, made substantial j gains in 1935, and showed marked improvement over other recent years. In 1935 imports from Australia were valued at about £1,500,000, representing a gain of 17 per cent, over 1934, 45 per cent, over 1933, and 26 per cent, over 1932. Exports to Australia had a value of about £4,600,000, showing advances of 35, 123, and 220 per cent, respectively over 1934, 1933 and 1932. New high records in this trade were set in both exports and imports. Important items in the exports from Australia to Canada were dried and fresh fruits, brandy and wine, wool and wool products, onions, sugar. Among the products of Canada sent to the Commonwealth. were cotton goods, farm implements, motor vehicles and parts, tinned salmon, newsprint paper, machinery, timber in various forms.
