LEADER’S LATEST REPORT LONDON, June 14. A copyright message from Air. Hugh Ruttledge from the north face camp on Sunday night says that Messrs Smythe and Wyn Harris completed a valuable reconnaissance of the west side of the north col. “Heavy snow is covering Everest and is driving us from , this high camp, which has been established at an altitude of 20,000 feet. We are descending to Camp No. 1 at 18,000 feet. Thence we will be sending a J detailed report of our conclusions when Air. Smith-Windham has re-opened the main wireless. TO RETURN SHORTLY Received June 15, 11.25 p.m. LONDON, June 15. Reuters cable from Darjeeling to-day states that the Everest expedition is expected to return shortly.
