‘ FRESH FIELDS” AND “NIGHT MUST FALL." To-morrow night at the Opera Hcuse. beginning al 8 o'clock, the J. U. Williamson, Ltd., comedy-dramatic company, wdiieh is headed by the two New Zealand artists, Alias Ethel Morrison and Miss Elaine Hamill, will present Ivc-r Novello’s hilariously humorous and unique comedy-drama ‘•Fresh Fields, and on Monday night they will appear in Emlyn Williams’ sensatioiral murder drama “Night Must Fall,” which is in its second year in London, where it is still the reigning theatrical attraction. The box plans for both productions are now open at the D.I.C. New Zealanders should bv, and arc justly proud of the fact that an important J. U. Williamson company has ror its leading artists two taientcd ladies, one a native of Wellington (Miss Ethel Morrison) and the other. Miss Elaine Hamill, belongs to Taihape. These two artists received a wonderful reception when they made their appearance in Wellington, and the opening performance there of “Fresh Helds'’ proved an occasion that will live for many years in t-ht memory oi those who were privileged to witness it. At the close of tine performance the record audience displayed unbounded enthusiasm, and the leading artists were called before the curtain again and again, and both Miss Morrison and Alias Hamill were called upon to address the audience, ft was only the I temptation of a very large salary that induced Miss Morrison to leave New York to agaiu visit Australia and New Zealand, and the J. C. Williamson, Ltd. management was fortunate in procuring her for the leading roles in ■‘Fresh Fields” and “Night Must Fall” because it is due to her brilliant characterisations that both of. these players have been outstandingly successful in Australia and New Zealand. Miss Elaine Hamill has had a meteoric career, as within a period of two years >he has become an accomplished and popular actress. This she proves conclusively by her perfect interpretations of the characters entrusted to her in •‘Fresh Fields” and “Night Must Fall.” To ensure the success of those plays it is positively essential that each part must be efficiently presented, and with this end in view the Williamson management spared no expense in obtaining suitable artists, and this has also been a great factor in making “Fresh Fields” amid “Night Mutt Fall” the most successful productions staged in Australia and New Zealand during recent years. Three brilliantly clever artists are Harvey Adams, Campbell Copelin and Katie Towers, and the company also includes the talented young Australian ‘‘juvenile lead,” Mr. Lloyd Lamble, and Arthur Lane.
