Mahmoud shot up, with Taj Akbar gallantly attempting to overhaul his stable companion. Mahmoud, however, won easily. The crowd in frenzied excitement cheered the Aga Khan as Mahmoud was led in. Mahmoud is a beautiful grey horse, only the third of that colour to win the Derby. The Aga Khan, overcame with delight, said he had realised his ambition to win the IDerby three times.
