DRINK AT DANCES
SERIOUS GROWING EVIL FARMERS’ RESOLUTION [ Per Press Association. ] AUOKLANID, May 28. Describing drinking at public dances as a “serious growing evil,” which is “demoralising our young people,” the Auckland Farmers’ Union Conference to-day passed a remit moved by Mr. Rockwell, Bay of Islands, and seconded by Mr. Ziinan, Cambridge, as follows: “That, as drinking at public dances is fast becoming a serious social evil, the Government be urged to adopt measures that will prevent intoxicating liquor being used at such dances.” Mr. Ziman said that it was a growing evil, and there was no one fully armed with authority to deal with it. Several speakers endorsed the proposal.
