THE PAPARANGI CLUB A SUCCESSFUL EVENT x q I The Paparangi Sheep Dog Trial Club n held its 13'h. annual trials last week j in beautiful weather. j T’he event proved most successful, I both socially and financially. All mem- ’ hers of tho club worked hard to keep J. things going. particularly the sheep ■ s stewards, headed by Mr F. Hall. The lt sheep, kindly supplied by Mr R. Farv ley from his Paparangi station, proved ■ji a task for the dogs. The grounds, kindly v lent, by Messrs Caddy and Williams, | were in great order and cars had no s difficulty in getting up on to the natural ’ grandstand. The club heartily thanks T all those who assisted by donations and l’ in other ways, particularly Mr G. Pad- ’ dison in his own speciality. .I The judge, Mr Fraser Smith, of Awas k'. n( b had a long job, but got through with satisfaction to all. The long head cup, donated by Lieut.-Col. Davis, was won by S. Steedman, of Mataroa, with his dog Scotch Peel. The cup donated by Mr Donald Ross was won outright by Mr H. Harris, of Taihape, with an J outstanding run by his dog Gyle in tho short head and yard event. The huntaL wya rose bowl, donated by Mr G. Fele loorc, and cup donated bv Mr Moored Hunter, were won by R. O. White’s dog Rock, one point above Leo Gower, of _ Eltham, thereby saving the trophies ’ c from an outright win this year. The (; maiden prize in the huntawav class was r won by R. S. Guthrie, a lad who showed great generaliship in his run. This boy d also won the all-round event and taken i.ho t rophy donated by Messrs J. Williams and Co. ( Jhe catering was greatly appreciated by all and the ladies’ committee were v ve,, y pleased with the new dining hall and arrangements for their benefit. It I is hoped they ahd a successful result.
