CENTENARY PLANS
CONFERENCE AWAITED [ Per Press Association. ] » WELLINGTON. May 2< “Further progress in connection with the centenary exhibition project in Web lington has been delayed pending a con« fercnce being called by the Govern* ment.” said the Mayor. Mr T. C. A. Hislop, to-day. “When this vonfcrence takes place 1 anticipate hearing what the policy of th© Government in th© matter is to be and the exact nature ami extent of the Government support to the project. It is not jossible for us to do anything further until that conference takes place, “Naturally I am anxious that it' sihould take place as soon as possible because the time left for the neoesftftry preparations is by no means too long. I understand that extensive work in preparation for the conference has been, done by the Department of Internal Affairs, so that matters should be well advanced when the confercn»ee take® place. As soon as this conference is concluded I hope we shall be able to move forward energetically in preparing for the exhibition.”
