NATIONALISATION AIMED AT STATEMENT BY MINISTER PROPER CONTROL ESSENTIAL [ Per Press Association. 1 WELLINGTON, May 25. The nationalisation of the traffic regulations and traffic inspection are two of the major provisions of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill which the Minister of Transport, the Hon. B. Sempre, hopes to be able to bring down before Parliament adjourns for the short winter recess. “Unless we can get proper control over road traffic we have no chance of reducing the number of accidents the roads,” said the Minister in an interview. “I regard this as one of our most urgent needs. The Bill will give us power to take this control, and to ensure that all vehicles on the roads shall reach an adequate standard of mechanical fitness.” Mr. Semple said the Bill would provide for a nationalised system of traffic inspection and nationalised schedule of trainc laws which would apply all over the Dominion. There would be one set of by-laws operating from the Noith. Cape to the Bluff. Every driver with a licence would receive a copy, and it would be seen that he understood them. No matter in what part of the Dominion a motorist happened to be hte would know the regulations he had to obey.
