HERRICK- ROLLESTON. A fashionable wedding, which attracted wide interest, was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Timaru, when Margaret, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Rolle,stun (Lc Cron’s Terrace, Timaru), was married lo Jasper Lucas, eldest son of Air. and Mrs. E. J. Harrick (Lindisfarne, Hastings). The bride is very popular in social circles in Tima.ro, and is a well-known horsewoman. She is a member of one of the, best-known and most esteemed families in Canterbury. Her grandfather, the late Hon. William KoJleston. arrived in Lytteltc-n by the. Regina 78 years ago, and took up a run near Lake Coleridge, in which district he named many mountains and streams. In 1863 he was appointed a member of the Education Commission, and was largely responsible fo-r framing the education system in -Canterbury. Later, he was Superintendent of Canterbury for eight years, until the abolition of the provinces in 187(5. Tho bridegroom's family is almost equally well known in Hawke’s Bay. The service was conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon W. H. Monaghan. The bride wore a lovely frock of ivory chiffon velvet, rucked at the shoulders and with skirt forming a circular train at the back, over which a second train of old Limerick lace was arranged from the waistline. Her long veil of ivory cut tulle fell from a halo of orange blossom buds and she carried a sheaf of chrysanthemums. Misses Rachel Rolleston, the bride’s sister, Julia Herrick, sister of the bridegroom, Hester Herrick, the bridegroom's cousin, and Janet Orbell and Cara. Pinckney were bridesmaids, and the bridegroom was attended by his brother, Lieutenant Terence Herrick, R.N., as best man. Messrs. IDenis Herrick, the bridegroom’s brother, John Rolleston, the bride’s brother, Hamish Wilson (Bulls) and Lieutenant Clu’.tcrbuck, R.N., were ushers. Attractive frc-cks of lame were worn by the five bridesmaids. Misses Rolleston and Julia Herrick woro pink frocks shot with silver, and Misses Hester Herrick, Orbell, and Pinckney blue silver shot lame frocks. The frocks, cut on the bias, were made on close-fitting lines and had Jong, graceful trains. Tho bc-dices had long fitting sleeves with cowled drapings round the armholes, and the necklines, cut square at the back, were draped to th© side in front. Their halo headdresses were of lame to tone with their frocks, and pink chrysantheniums were arranged in t-be sheaves which they carried. The reception was held at the home G-f the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Herrick will live in Hastings.
