Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, May 12, 4 p.m. General Situation—The anti-cyclone mentioned yesterday is now centred directly over New Zealand and is intense. A depression is located over the western Tasman but’has filling up. Forecast.—Winds; Light to moderate, variable, with northeasterlies or northerlies gradually predominating and freshening somewhat in the far south. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate north-east to northerly winds, freshening somewhat in the far south; seas slight to moderate. Weather: For the most part fine, with cold night but mild day temperatures. Cloudy, however, on parts of the East Coast with drizzling rain at a few places and later some light rains probable in southern Westland and the far south.
