THE WINTER MEETING HANDICAPS ANNOUNCED

EOXTON RACING CLUB TROPHIES IN CUP EVENT. NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAl r . The Foxton Cup, to be decided at the Foxton Racing Club’s winter meeting on Saturday. May 30, will have a stake of £l4O, including a trophy valued at £2O donated by Mrs. S. R. Austin. The trainer of the winner will receive a stopwatch donated by Miss J. Austin, and the successful jockey will receive a gold-mounted whip, presented by Master I). Austin. This should add considerably to the interest attached to the Foxton Cup. Included in the programme for the meeting is a hack and huntern’ steeplechase over a distance of two and a-half miles. Altogether there are seven events and the fixture promises to provied patrons with an enjoyable day’s racing. The first event is to start at 11.45 a.m. The s ngle-pool system of betting will be used, the totalisator paying out two dividends in the proportion of 75 and 25 per cent, for first and second respectively. Nominations for all events are to close at 9 p.m. on Friday next.. May 15. Weights will be declared a week later, and acceptances will dose at 8 p.m. on Monday, May 25. OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAY. The winter meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club will be held on Thursday and Saturday, June 4 and 6, and is sure to be well patronised by district owners and trainers with horses likely to be seen out at later meetings. The Raukawa Cup carries a stake of £l5O. and the Ta Timi Kara Handicap the second day has a stake of £l3O. A hack and hunters’ steeplechase is included on each day’s programme. In addition to the stake in the Rangiuru Hack Handicap the second day there is a crystal fruit service for the owner of the winner. The programme is worth perusal and owners and trainers should note that nominating are due to close on Friday next, May 15, at 8 p.m.
