TEILDING HORSE SALE Dalgety and Company, Limited, report ou the Feilding Horse Fair held last Tuesday:—Although the entries advertised for this sale were about 80 head, the total offering comprised in the vicinity of 21U. The unbroken horses were mostly useful soits and competition was good for any beast showing breeding and a little weight. In the broken and. draught horse section, the quality with only a few exceptions left much to be desired, most animals showing decided age. Good reliable horses sold to strong competition but aged and inferior sorts were more neglected than at the previous sales. A large entry of light harness horses and hacks were submitted but passings were very frequent in this section, only a few of the more reliable useful horses changed hands at satisfactory figures. They quote: —Unbroken geldings, £l6, £lB, to £29; fillies to £3l; working draughts geldings, £l2, £l5, £26, to £44; hacks, £3 10s to £l2. MARTON HORSE FAIR Despite atrocious weather conditions there was a large attendance of farmers and ethers interested at the autumn horse fair held by the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., on Thursday. Horses came in well in excess of advertised numbers, approximately 100 horses of all descriptions being yarded. Compared with previous years the entry of unbroken draughts was very small. A fair number of heavy draughts 'camo forward, but the bulk o-f the entry eoanpris-od aged light draughts with the usual number of hacks and harness sorbs. Whilst there ■were no outstanding prices, yet good draughts were keenly competed for. Hacks and harne-ss sorts were hard to sell. Oldfield, rising 3-year gelding, £34; on account Mr Collinson, rising 3-year colt, £4B. Broken Horses —On account J. Lough nane, 6-year mare, £47 10s; on account Geo. Harvey, 2 8-year geldings at £36 10s each; on account A. Farr, 9-year mare, £23; ou account Mr Rowlands, 4year gelding. £4l 10s; 9-year do., £3O; on account Henry Galpin, 6-year mare, £36; on account L. Tavener, 4-year gelding, £33; on account 8. J. Suiste-d, 8-year gelding, £4B; on account R. IL Oidfield, 8-year gelding, £46 10s; on account Mrs Cockburn, 9 year gelding. £35; aged do., £34; on account A. T. Whale, aged gelding, £l7; on account W. 11. Sutton. 9-ycar light gelding, £lO IQs; on account S. J. Suisted, 9-year mare, £l9; aged horses brought from £7 to £lO.
